WRSD Full Day Kindergarten

In addition to the half-day kindergarten program for all children in the Wachusett Regional School District who will be age 5 by August 31, 2018, WRSD also offers the opportunity for children who meet the age requirement to attend a Full-Day Kindergarten program that is tuition-based.  Seats for the Full-Day Program are awarded through a lottery and are dependent upon enrollment for the school year.

Full-Day Kindergarten Overview

  • Kindergarten Registration paperwork must be completed and submitted to the school in order to be eligible for the full-day kindergarten lottery. Students who do not have a completed Kindergarten Registration Packet on file at their school will be removed from consideration on the day of the lottery.

  • The full-day program is optional and tuition based.

  • Children must be 5 years of age on or before August 31, 2018.

  • The full-day program is 5 days per week.

  • Kindergarten transportation is provided to those outside the walk area.

  • Financial assistance is available based on federal free and reduced lunch guidelines.

  • Lottery applications must be submitted by Friday, March 16th.

  • The lottery will be held on Friday, March 30th at 4:00 in the Curriculum Center (lower level) at Jefferson School, 1745 Main St. Jefferson.

  • Attendance at the lottery is not required. Parents not present at the lottery will be notified by email/mail the following week.

  • Once you have registered by clicking on "Enter the Full Day Kindergarten Lottery" at the bottom of this page, you will receive an email to confirm your entry.

  • Half-day kindergarten is free for all District residents.

  • The yearly tuition for the 2018-2019 Full-Day Kindergarten will be $3,500.

  • The tuition rate and payment schedule are as follows.

Continued participation in the full-day kindergarten program is contingent upon the payment of tuition when due.

An $875 deposit must be received by April 16th, 2018 to enroll your child in the full-day kindergarten program.  Cash, check (made payable to the Wachusett Regional School District), or credit card payment using PayPal (accessed through the WRSD website) will be accepted.

Failure to submit the deposit by this date will result in your child's name being removed from the list and the seat being given to a child on the waiting list.

The remainder of the full-day kindergarten tuition must be paid using one of the following options:

  1. Payment in full at any time by PayPal or personal check

  2. By PayPal or personal check in three installments of $875 each due no later than

  3. Automatic withdrawal from your checking or savings account in 6 monthly installments of $437.50

    • Withdrawals will be made on the first day of each month June through November, 2018

    • If you choose this option, a Prearranged Payment Authorization form along with a canceled check must be submitted by April 16th

If, for any reason, a family is unable to make all installment payments on time, and if the entire tuition is not paid in full by October 31, 2018, the student may be withdrawn from the full-day program and enrolled in the half-day program.

 Additional Guidelines

  • There will be no discount for families with more than one child in full-day kindergarten

  • Twins who are full-day applicants will be treated as a single unit for lottery purposes but will pay full tuition for each child.

  • Any seats made available due to families moving will be filled from the waitlist

  • Enrollment in a full-day program is assumed to be for the full school year. If a family moves out of the District, a pro-rated tuition will be refunded if another child takes that place in the program.

Multiple Full-Day Kindergarten classes are planned in some schools.  HOWEVER, if there are not enough participants in the program, the number of classes at a school may be reduced and some lottery winners may go on a waiting list based on the order in which they were drawn.
